Your trip to the IJK

Someren can easily be reached from multiple directions. With support from the Esperanto club of Eindhoven, we can even drive you the last few kilometers, so you can arrive at the congress well rested. The address of the congress in De Hoof 18, Someren. Schedule your arrival on Saturday 11 July after 15:00, and your departure on Saturday 18 July before 9:30.

By car, bike, hitchhiking or horse:

Find your way to De Hoof 18, Someren. There’s plenty of parking space for cars and bikes.

By air:

Fly to Eindhoven (EIN) or to Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS). From EIndhoven airport, the IJK minibus goes directly to De Hoof several times a day. From Schiphol it’s possible to take a train to Eindhoven four times an hour, and several times a day there’s a cheap group caravan for €10 that connects to the IJK minibus headed to De Hoof.

By long-distance bus:

Various bus companies drive to Eindhoven. From the station in Eindhoven there’s an IJK minibus headed directly to De Hoof several times a day.

Overview of train caravan

By train from Belgium and France:

We do not recommend taking the train to the Netherlands (unless you’re travelling from Liège). Instead we recommend going to the Belgian station of Hamont, which has an IJK minibus twice a day. We’re planning a train caravan with a group ticket for €10 that connects to the Thalys from Paris Nord.

By train from Switzerland and eastern France:

There’s a train caravan for €25 from Strasbourg or Basel, which passes through Karlsruhe, Mainz and Koblenz. In Strasbourg it’s usually possible to sleep at local Esperantists. From Venlo there’s an IJK minibus headed directly to De Hoof.

By train from Hungary, Austria and southern Germany:

There’s a train caravan for €25 from München through Nürnberg, Würzberg and Frankfurt headed towards Venlo, where there’s good connections to the overnight train from Budapest and Wien. From Venlo the IJK minibus will take you straight to De Hoof.

By train from Slovakia, Czechia and central Germany:

There’s a train caravan for €25 from Dresden through Leipzig and Kassel bound for Venlo, where there’s good connection to the overnight train from Košice towards Praha, and later on a direct train from Praha to Dresden. From Venlo the IJK minibus will take you straight to De Hoof. On your return trip, this caravan is headed to Somera Esperanto-Studado (SES) in Slovakia.

By train from northern Germany:

There’s a train caravan for €25 from Berlin through Hannover bound for Venlo, and multiple bus companies drive to Berlin. From Venlo the IJK minibus will take you straight to De Hoof. On your return trip, this caravan is headed to the Esperanto station.

If you arrive at a time where there’s no IJK minibus:

From the stations Eindhoven and Helmond there’s a direct bus 320 towards Someren, with the stop named Kapelletje. From the bus stop arrows indicate the one kilometer walk to De Hoof. It is not possible to pay with cash in the bus.
